I’m Dr Mira An, a Chinese Medicine Practitioner and Acupuncturist who has been caring for patients in Melbourne, Australia, for many years.
Over the past 15 years, I have developed clinical experience with a particular focus on women’s health and fertility. I have supported women’s health and fertility journeys within reproductive medicine and integrative medicine settings, including Monash IVF and Melbourne IVF.
Alongside my clinical practice, I have spent the past 13 years teaching Chinese Medicine at university, including Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, pattern differentiation, and clinical supervision.
I continue to participate in students’ clinical education and have helped guide many students as they develop into Chinese Medicine practitioners.
As a researcher, I also explore body constitution and individual differences in Chinese Medicine through contemporary research methods.
Beginning a New Practice at The Grove Chinese Medicine
I am pleased to be starting a new practice at The Grove Chinese Medicine in Hawthorn, Melbourne.
The Grove was founded by Steven Clavey, an internationally recognised Chinese herbalist, author, and educator. The clinic has maintained a longstanding clinical tradition in Chinese herbal medicine, skin conditions, and women’s health.
Through its specialist herbal dispensary, The Herb Grove, the clinic also offers individualised Chinese herbal prescriptions using quality herbal ingredients.
What Matters to Me in Clinical Practice
Through many years of practising, teaching, and researching, what matters most to me has become simpler:
Respecting tradition while continuing to ask questions.
Valuing evidence-based medicine while also reflecting on the limitations of modern medicine.
Above all, taking the time to listen carefully to each person’s story.
In this new setting, I will continue to look beyond a person’s diagnosis, considering their overall wellbeing, lifestyle, and the individual circumstances of their life.
